Dangerous Goods
Air New Zealand prohibit the following items whether stowed in checked baggage, in your cabin baggage, or on your person - briefcases with alarm devices; gases (including camping gas); corrosives such as mercury or wet cell batteries; explosives such as fireworks and flares; flammable liquids such as lighter fuel; flammable solids such as fire lighters and matches; oxidizing substances such as bleaching powder; poisonous and infectious substances; radioactive materials and magnetized materials.
Air New Zealand have specific requirements for the carriage of camping stoves/fuel containers, firearms and any devices with petrol engines. Air New Zealand maintain that carriage of these items will require passengers to prepare the items or arrange documentation in advance of the travel date.
Air New Zealand request that devices with petrol engines cannot be carried as checked or cabin baggage and must be consigned as cargo. Air New Zealand also request that the carriage of firearms and in some cases ammunition is governed by country specific regulations. If passengers wish to carry firearms they must obtain any relevant permits from the authorities of the countries they are travelling to. The passenger must also notify Air New Zealand at least 2 weeks prior to their date of departure so that Air New Zealand can comply with any relevant formalities and regulations.
