Dangerous Items
Aer Lingus will accept at their discretion items such as antique firearms, swords, knives and similar items as Checked Baggage, but these items will not be permitted in the cabin of the aircraft. Aer Lingus charge €30/£20/AED125 for all flights within Europe, (£25 departing London Heathrow) for Sports Guns And Ammunition. For flights to/from North America sports guns and ammunition may be carried under the normal baggage allowance.
Aer Lingus will carry Sport guns and ammunition cartridges subject to the following: Guns are to be dismantled. They will only be carried in the baggage hold of the aircraft. They must be packed separately from other baggage. They must be packed one gun per case. They must be available for inspection by security. Ammunition/cartridges must also be loaded in the baggage hold and must be available for inspection. They will be subject to a max baggage allowance of 30k including arms and ammunition. All government and legal regulations must be complied with. All documentation and licenses are the passengers responsibility.
Aer Lingus prohibit the carriage of the following items in checked-in baggage/hold baggage: Explosives, including detonators, fuses, grenades, mines and explosives. Gases; Propane, butane. Flammable liquids, including Gasoline, methanol. Flammable solids and reactive substances, including Magnesium, firelighters, fireworks flares. Oxidizers and organic peroxides, including Bleach, car body repair kits. Toxic or infectious substances, including rat poison, infected blood. Radioactive material, including medicinal or commercial isotopes. Corrosives, including mercury, vehicle batteries. Vehicle fuel system components which have contained fuel.
Aer Lingus asks that passengers must not include in Checked Baggage money, jewellery, precious metals, computers, personal electronic devices, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, business documents, personal medication, passports and other identification documents or samples.
Aer Lingus do not permit check-in or carry on-board of any wet-cell batteries either in wheelchairs or as stand-alone batteries.
