Dangerous Articles
Aer Arann will accept the following items for carriage in the hold once suitably packed securely by wrapping to prevent injury to airport baggage screeners and handling personnel; Catapults, Knives with blades or length under 6cm., including letter openers, made of metal or any other material e.g. polycarbonate or ceramic, Razor blades (both open bladed and safety razors), Tradesmen's tools, Darts, Scissors, Hypodermic syringes (unless required for genuine medical reasons, proof of same required e.g. Doctors letter), Knitting needles, Large sporting bats and clubs (e.g. Baseball and Softball bats, Golf clubs, Hockey sticks, Lacrosse sticks, Kayak and canoe paddles, Skateboards, Fishing rods), Billiard, snooker or pool cues, Ski and walking/hiking poles.
Aer Arann do not permit the following items as checked or unchecked baggage; Christmas Crackers, Pyrotechnics including Fireworks, party poppers and toy caps. Compressed gases - deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous, for example butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen. Aqualung cylinders and compressed gas cylinders. Internal combustion engines, for example chainsaws, model aircraft, and lawnmowers. Corrosives for example chlorine, acids, alkalis, wet cell batteries, and items containing mercury for example thermometers. Explosives - for example Blasting caps, Detonators and fuses. Munitions - for example Mines and other explosive military stores, Grenades of all types. Ammunition including blank cartridges. Hand guns. Shot guns. Pistols including Air pistols, Rifles, Pellet guns, Pistol caps, Signal flare pistols, Starter pistols, Revolvers. Shotguns. Replica and imitation firearms - Toy guns of all types and/or Lighters shaped like a firearm. Component parts of firearms. Ball bearing guns. Industrial bolt and nail guns. Crossbows and Arrows. Catapults. Harpoon and spear guns. Animal humane killers and/or Stun or shocking devices for example cattle prods or ballistic conducted energy weapons, lasers. Flares. Flammable liquids and solids for example lighters that need inverting before ignition, lighter fuel, petrol/gasoline, diesel, alcohol, ethanol, Aerosol spray paint, Turpentine and paint thinner, Alcoholic beverages exceeding 70% by volume/140% proof. Matches, although safety matches may be carried on the person. Firelighters. Paints and thinners. Radioactive materials. Oxidising materials, for example bleaching powder and peroxides. Poisons and infectious substances, such as insecticides, weed killers and live virus materials (Poisons, Infectious or biological hazardous material, for example infected blood, bacteria and viruses),mace, pepper spray, tear gas, Radioactive material for example medicinal or commercial isotopes. Briefcases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices. Other dangerous articles, such as magnetised material. Offensive or irritating materials. Pointed/Edged Weapons including Ice Axes and Ice Picks, hatchets, Crampons. Open razors and blades (excluding safety or disposable razors with blades enclosed in cartridges.
